Share your company Objective: Why small business owners need to know WordPress (and love!)

If you are not familiar with it, WordPress is a content management system for creating and editing websites and blogs. It is a user-friendly technology, robust and powerful, but not a technical article - I want to focus on their true value to you as a business owner: an easy way to share their vision, products and content online business. If it's a blog in an important business trend, a new page to share a new product or event you want to add to your site menu, WordPress is an easy way to update and communicate online.

In short, WordPress is how to share my digital voice - and I like talking to myself.

However, too often, when I talk to business people about WordPress, they resist it, expressing concern that "non-technical" or can "bring a lawsuit for your web developer to update" when they have the new web content.

It's time for small business owners are increasing technology, no turning away. Here are my top six reasons why you, as a small business owner, you should embrace your inner geek "and learn WordPress.

1. It puts you in control of your digital voice

If you have a website that you have worked with an external website developer or have developed your site yourself using a simple but powerful content management system like WordPress means that you are in control of their content. I like to understand the basic elements that support my business and WordPress is definitely one of those.

2. You can keep your updated and fresh content

Static web sites where the content is boring and uninteresting, is bad for business, sales and search engine optimization. Whether your business is selling online and using the web to communicate to customers who will buy from you online: You must have updated, informative and relevant content. Your website is your store - make the most of it.

3. You can do it yourself - no waiting

As a business owner, I understand - you do not want to do everything yourself and your list "non-doing" is as important, if not more than their "list". So your team has to be able to use WordPress - but for me the power of being able to change things myself (and when I want) is important. Like many business owners, I'm not one to celebrate; the ease with which I can simply click and edit a page or write a blog post directly into WordPress means I have to say what I want, when I want. WordPress gives me the momentum of rapid sales.

4. Change your mindset content

Armed with WordPress and consistent ability to share thoughts, opinions, ideas and knowledge with the public goals have changed my mind to communicate. A visit to the Museum of Natural History inspires me to write about the pace of business and dinosaurs; a conversation at a networking event put my fingers on the keyboard to share ideas and interesting views; Comments from a customer becomes a published reference only and approval of our products and services.

5. Open your eyes to the possibilities online

Beyond the ability to publish content, WordPress plugins and widgets 29,358, the plug-in technology that can provide specific functionality for your website. Awareness of these can expand your thoughts on how to communicate, participate, share ideas and sell online. For example, the offices of plugins let you control to its customers; social media plugins encourages you to think about how their customers can use Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and other channels; notation plugins help its customers to share what's important to them. Just browse WordPress plugins and widgets can inspire and reveal some of the opportunities that are there for the taking.

6. Easy

Unlike many areas of skills and topics that I had to learn how to manage a transatlantic business - regional sales taxes; international differences in employment; sales skills and cash management, WordPress is simple, easy to learn - and fun! So go ahead, is committed to personal development and your business, and get online.
